Frequently asked questions
Insite View turns BIM models into digital twins that anyone can open from a QR code, in 3D or AR.
Do visitors need an account?
No. Anyone who scans a plate opens the building without an account. On iPhone it opens in the Insite View App Clip (3D and AR, without installing the full app); on Android and computers, the 3D view opens in the browser.
How does AR work?
On an iPhone, open the building from the plate and tap See in AR, then point the camera at the plate: the model lines up with the real wall so you can see what’s behind it.
Which phones can use AR?
iPhones with iOS 18 or later open the building in AR through the Insite View App Clip, straight from the camera, without installing the full app. Android phones and computers get the 3D view in the browser, without AR for now.
Which files can I upload?
IFC 2x3, IFC4 and IFC4.3 (.ifc or .ifczip, up to 500 MB each, up to 10 files per version) exported from Revit, ArchiCAD, AltoQi QiBuilder, Eberick, Tekla and other BIM tools.
How much does it cost?
A 14-day free trial with no card, then a one-time price per building from $50 depending on size. No subscription.
What if you shut down, or I stop paying?
An activated building moves to a free, read-only archive: its QR codes keep opening the twin, uploads just stop. We give notice before any change that would break a printed code.
Can I drill based on the twin?
Treat the twin as a reference, not a survey. Always confirm with a detector and professional judgement before drilling or cutting.
What do you do with my data?
We store your models and account to run the service and never sell them. Visitors are counted without accounts. The Privacy Policy has the details.
How do I delete my account?
In the iPhone app go to Profile → Delete account, or on the web go to Settings → Delete account. Your personal data is erased; buildings stay with your organization.
Something looks wrong in a building. Who do I tell?
The company that shared the building can fix the model. For problems with Insite View itself, write to us at the address below.
